Power Supply Design Examples

The PC104pPWR12 power supply provides for the +5, +3.3, +12, minus 12 and minus 5 for PCI-104, PC/104p and PC/104 from a 12V wall mount transformer supply, battery etc. Each rail is fuse protected. The supply uses switching technology to provide high efficiency coupled with low pass filtering to provide low noise and fast response to transient loads.

Many Dynamic Engineering designs incorporate power supplies as part of the design. For example many FPGA´s require multiple voltages for operation. In applications with small amounts of current, linear supplies can be used providing a cost and space effective solution without paying much of a penalty in wasted power from the conversion. For primary voltages; switching power supplies should be used to minimize power consumption. Most Dynamic Engineering designs have a combination of linear and switching power supplies.

Mil power [28 Volt] to +/- 15 and 5V output. Single card 6U VME form factor with EMI, brown out, and over voltage protection. Design utilized Vicor DC/DC converters with support circuitry.

DC:DC converter design. +5 V upconverted to 13.65V with voltage regulation, short circuit protection. Used as a precision battery charging circuit for Gell Cell batteries.

DC/DC converter board with +28V input, EMI filtering, ±15V, ±12V, +5V, and programmable ±10V,±5V, ±2.5V outputs. The card also has instrumentation amplifiers and current buffering to interface with position sensors. This custom design is used with the GreenSpring 332 board to control motors in a flight simulator system.
