The PC104p2PMC ( PCI-104 to PMC ) adapter / carrier converter card provides the ability to install a PMC card into a standard PCI-104 slot. Suitable for 32 bits with 33 or 66 MHz bus operation. The PMC front panel connector is mounted though the PCI mounting bracket.

The PCI bus is buffered with 10 ohm series resistors and clamped with Schotky diodes. The PCI clock is distributed with a zero delay buffer. The PC104p2PMC design is passive with no added delays to access the PMC hardware. The traces are carefully routed with proper attention paid to the impedance and reference planes to maximize compatibility with your PCI system. The PC104p2PMC is based on the legacy of the PCI2PMC, PCIBPMC, and cPCI versions. The passive design of the PC104p2PMC reduces system latency.

The PCI bus is interconnected to the PMC is a 66 MHz capable layout.

The PCI VIO is interconnected to the PMC directly. The PCI-104 backplane will determine the bus voltage reference. The voltage select pins are not installed on the PC104p2PMC and it is left to the user to properly select the PMC and PCI104 stack components for PCI voltage level considerations. Many PMCs are universal and can work with 3.3 or 5V PCI backplanes.

The PC104p2PMC follows the PMC specs for maximum power consumption and heat dissipation.

A FET is used to switch between the on-board regulator and the back-plane 3.3. The user selects with a dipswitch

The stack position is selected with the dipswitch. The interrupt, IDSEL, Clock, Bus Request and Bus Grant are selected based on the stack position.

LED´s are provided for the system and regulator voltages.

  • PCI bus can operate at 66 or 33 MHz. The PMC must be 66 MHz capable for 66 MHz operation to work properly.

  • Standard PCI byte lanes supported for byte, word and long access dependent on installed PMC. 32 bit operation supported.

  • PMC register definitions as defined by installed hardware. No software set-up required by PCI2PMC.

  • Interrupts
  • INTA, B, C, D routed to PCI-104 / PC/104p connector from PMC.

  • Signal Conditioning
  • AD signals are series terminated with 10 ohm resistors. Schottky clamping Diodes on critical PCI signals. Zero delay buffer for PCI clock distribution.

  • Power
  • +5, +3.3, +12, -12V supplied to PMC. Switch selectable option for onboard 1500mA regulator or PCI 3.3V supply.

  • VIO
  • PCI IO Voltage is set by the PCI backplane. VIO is routed from the PCI-104 connector to the PMC.

  • IO Interface
  • Front Bezel IO supported.

  • LEDs
  • PCI3.3, +3V, REG 3.3, +5V, +12V, -12V and Busmode 1.

  • JTAG
  • Primary PCI JTAG connections are routed to a header. The PCI JTAG can be connected to the PMC JTAG or left open for download cable use. JTAG pin definitions are in the silkscreen.

  • The PC104p2PMC is a standard size PCI-104 board which conforms to the PCI-104 mechanical specifications. Adding the PMC adds width outside of the standard envelope.

  • PMC Compatibility
  • The PC104p2PMC is PMC compliant per the IEEE 1386 specification. All Dynamic Engineering PMC Modules are compatible with the PC104p2PMC. All other PMC Modules which are compliant with the PMC specification are compatible with the PC104p2PMC.

  • PCI Compatibility
  • The PC104p2PMC is not PCI compliant. The PC104p2PMC has trace lengths in excess of the maximum specified by the PCI specification. The excess length is relatively small compared to other passive adapters in use for the PCI and cPCI bus. The PC104p2PMC design includes several features to minimize the effects of the longer traces. The zero delay clock buffer keeps the PCI side of the clock length within specification, and the 10 ohm series resistors and clamping diodes help to control the AD and control signals. PC104p2PMC adapters can be expected to work in any PCI bus stub.
